I recently bought a 17' alumacraft tunnel hull with a 75 hp evinrude e-tec (not a jet). i bought it to run in rivers and shallow water. the motor sits about 7-8'' below the boat which seems pretty low.. Getting mixed advice (from people selling boats) on whether or not some of the shallower tunnel hulls actually improve the performance of the boat. some say it just drives rocks up into the jet drive, others swear by them, some say it is a novelty too shallow to actually funnel enough water to the drive..
